Within a steel tube, a wire rope with evenly spaced discs travels at high speed, running in sprockets at each end of the conveyor. As material is fed in, the air stream aerates or fluidizes it and carries it to the outlet, where it is discharged by centrifugal force. Aermomechanical conveyors are a good equipment choice for those seeking to transfer powders, granules, pellets, or flakes.

Occasionally, the rope and disc assembly within an aeromechanical conveyor will have to be replaced. This can be due to variety of reasons. Rope and disk assemblies may need to be replaced at intervals specified by the equipment manufacturer, or the rope or disks may break due to wear and tear or improper operation. For these reasons, it is important to follow manufacturers’ servicing recommendations and to carry our regular inspections of the rope and disc assembly.
