Mobile Aeromechanical and Flexible Screw Conveyors

January 5, 2022

Mobile aeromechanical and flexible screw conveyors can offer numerous advantages over stationary units which are fixed in place. Mobile conveyors can be easily moved to different locations within a facility, used to serve different processes, or taken out of a process and moved to a washdown area for cleaning if required. This ease of movement is especially advantageous in batch-type or high-variety production environments where equipment needs to be moved to where it is needed. In this blog, we look at the mobile aeromechanical and flexible screw conveyors that are offered by UniTrak.

POWDERFLIGHT AEROMECHANICAL CONVEYORS

Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors operate on a simple principle. Within a steel tube, a wire rope with evenly spaced discs travels at high speed, running in sprockets at each end of the conveyor. As material is fed in, the air stream generated by the moving discs aerates or fluidizes it and carries it to the outlet, where it is discharged by centrifugal force.

Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors can be supplied with an optional mobile base fitted with wheels. This feature allows these units to be fully portable and easily moved within a production area. Advantages of Powderflight aeromechnical units include the following:

  • High throughput. Powderflight conveyors can move material at rates up to 24 cubic feet per minute.
  • Moves difficult-to-handle materials. Powderflight units will move fine powders as well as coarser materials consisting of granules, pellets and flakes. Materials are moved with minimal attrition of fragile particles, and there is no separation of blended products. Material which is difficult-to-handle, such as powders that cake, pack or smear, are easily moved due to the mode of operation.
  • Easy to clean. Because Powderflight units totally transfer all the material in a production batch, there is little residual material in the conveyor. An inspection hatch allows for easy clean out of the inlet.
  • Mobile/portable Powderflight units can operate at any angle from 45° to 60°. Maximum conveyor length is 19 feet/6 meters.

UNIFLEX FLEXIBLE SCREW CONVEYORS

UniFlex flexible screw conveyors are an excellent choice for the intermittent conveying of free-flowing bulk materials. With only one moving part, UniFlex conveyors offer dependable service.

UniFlex conveyors are available with an optional mobile base, allowing the unit and its receiving hopper to be easily moved. Each unit comes equipped with a standard receiving hopper of 8 cubic feet capacity. Other features include a food-grade UHMW polyethylene tube, a cleanout cap that is easily removable for fast product changeovers and cleaning, and a low level control that shuts the unit off when empty.

If you think your operation could benefit from a stationary or mobile aeromechanical and flexible screw conveyors, UniTrak will be pleased to review your needs. For further information, please contact our sales team.
