POWDERFLIGHT AEROMECHANICAL CONVEYORS FOR LOGISTICS: FILLING BULK MATERIAL ROAD TANKERS AND TRANSPORTERS

Increasingly, many bulk materials are being moved by road, leading to unprecedented growth of the transport and bulk loading industries. Achieving an efficient logistics operation within these industries depends upon being able to quickly turnaround transporters, reducing costs and achieving a superior use of assets. Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors are an ideal choice for filling road tankers, achieving higher efficiency over conventional methods.

ABOUT POWDERFLIGHT AEROMECHANICAL CONVEYORS

Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors operate on a simple principle. Within a steel tube, a wire rope with evenly spaced discs travels at high speed, running in sprockets at each end of the conveyor. As material is fed in, the air stream aerates or fluidizes it and carries it to the outlet, where it is discharged by centrifugal force. Powderflight aermomechanical conveyors are an ideal equipment choice for those seeking to transfer powders, granules, pellets, or flakes.

A unique feature of aeromechanical conveyors is that they can be made mobile. This feature means that an aeromechanical conveyor can be moved alongside road tankers to facilitate filling from a bulk bag (FIBC) or rigid bin discharge station, silo, or other bulk material storage location.

USING AEROMECHANICALS FOR FILLING ROAD TANKERS AND OTHER TRANSPORTS

A recent case study featuring Potter Group Logistics highlights how Powderflight aeromechanical conveyors can be used to fill road tankers and other bulk material transporters.

Potter Group Logistics is a UK firm providing warehousing and distribution logistics services to customers. The company was asked by a client to move a fine, sand-like material that was used in the pharmaceutical industry. During the transport process, the material had to be conveyed from a bulk bag discharger to road tankers in a way that preserved the integrity of the product whilst ensuring no spillage or loss.

To meet their need Potter Group chose an M-100 Powderflight aeromechanical conveyor. The Powderflight represented a cost-effective, low maintenance solution that was fast and easy to use. The conveyor easily transferred material from the FIBC to tankers without any blend separation and no degradation of the constituent particles. Due to the fully enclosed construction of the M-100, product dusting and spillage was eliminated. Finally, since the M-100 operates at any angle, Potter Group is able carry out filling road tankers of any height.
